FAQs
What does "100% plant-based" even mean? Here at The Hoot, our food and drinks are made completely from plants. That means no animal products can be found in the ingredients (including meat, milk, eggs, etc.). If you are concerned about specific allergens, please reach out to us via email or instagram message (or talk to us in-person!) and we will be more than happy to help you find something to eat here.
Do you have any gluten-free options? Yes! The cheez tots are my favorite thing to recommend to gluten-free folks, but you can also get boiled peanuts, hummus and veggies (ask to sub for pita), a poke bowl, chips & salsa/cheez, olives & pickles, and/or "beef" nachos (ask to sub Beyond beef for beans). ***Things to watch out for: the fries are breaded and the beans have beer in them. Also, all items will encounter mild cross-contamination as we are not a gluten-free kitchen.
Are you accessible for folks in wheelchairs? Yes! There is a zero-stairs entry way (actually the main entrance, though lots of people choose to use the porch door)-->follow the alley to the Hoot sign with glowing eyes and you will see our large double doors to your right. The easiest way to get in is to pull hard on the left door. Our tables are appropriately spaced and we have 2 one-person, all gender restrooms. All service at the bar unless otherwise requested.
Do you take reservations? No, all service is at the bar and seating is first-come-first-serve.
Do you host events? Public? Sure! Just email or instagram message us to make sure we will be prepared for your party over 10 people. Private? Depends on the date/details, so shoot us an email or instagram message.
I'm not plant-based. Can I bring my own food? Please do not bring outside food of any kind into the restaurant. We encourage you to talk to our staff, most of whom are not plant-based, and let them help you branch out and try something off our menu!
Do you allow pets? Dogs and other domestic animals are allowed on-leash on our patio at the owner's discretion.
Why do you close at midnight? Because at exactly 12:34am, the owl statues come to life...
